VA. THE CROWN.
WHAT DOES “VA” MEAN? If you’ve ever seen a German Shepherd with “VA” in front of their name — that’s a BIG deal. VA = “Vorzüglich Auslese” in German, which means “Excellent Select.” It’s the highest possible title a German Shepherd can earn in the world, given only to the very best of the best only at the National Sieger Shows. To reach VA level, everything must align — health, training, genetics, structure, and heart. It’s incredibly hard to achieve, and it takes years of preparation, dedication, and world-class training to even step onto that field. To achieve VA, a dog must have: Excellent structure and movement (perfect conformation) Top working titles (minimum IGP2, KKL, etc.) Proven health, character, and temperament Often outstanding progeny (producing excellence again!) It’s not just a show title — it’s a recognition that this dog represents the ideal German Shepherd in every way: health, beauty, brains, courage and working ability combined. A VA dog is not just a champion… it’s the standard that others are measured by. That’s why a VA dog is so rare and so deeply respected around the world. This photo is of Alonzo and Lucie earning their second VA title with OTTI in 2023 and the story about ERNA achieving her VA title last weekend - is coming We have 2x VA rated females in our kennel now! GRIM.
Last week we traveled to see this hunk Stunning, young male in Arkansas, that recently came to USA from Germany Every time we partner with an outside male, every time we bring a new female into our breeding program … there are hours of study, endless thought process, prayers seeking the Lord, invitation of input from those we trust… Behind each decision, that contributes to the over all - and - long term vision … … there is much behind it. Blend of: facts, instinct, heart guidance and hope of answered prayers … … that is where our decisions are made and VISION is continues to evolve and form … Now we hope, that Grim, … son to Zinderella, who is proven super producer, … 1/2 brother to our Khaleesi that we absolutely love, … and grandson to our all time fav … Zitan … we hope, that he will be part of it too. (Yes, which female he was paired with is a secret for now ) Thank you Chantelle for allowing us to partner with your new boy. He is fabulous and such a gentleman! • V Grimlock vom Wanakon IGP3, FH2, KKL • HD/ ED: a1 normal / a1 normal DM: clear N/N sire: V Vulkano vom Gebenbacher Land IGP3, kkl (VA Gavin vom Hasenborn) dam: VA Zinderella vom Lamorak IGP3, FH1, lbz (VA Zitan v. She knew he was on the way, before his mamma knew she was pregnant. That is what his mamma says. Since the day he was born, she has been his protector. She is the nanny that keeps eye on him, she is family. She never leaves his side. THIS is WHY, we DO, WHAT we DO. LOVING FAMILY MEMBER. NATURAL PROTECTOR. SPRING. DOG-ALLERGIES. TEXAS
Spring in Texas brings warmer weather and blooming plants—but it also means allergy season for many dogs. Breeds like the German Shepherd are especially prone because of their sensitive skin and thick coats that trap pollen. Why allergies are worse in Texas • High tree pollen (oak, cedar) • Grass pollen from lawns and fields • Wind spreads allergens easily Common symptoms Watch for these signs: • Constant scratching or chewing • Licking paws a lot • Red, irritated skin or hot spots • Ear infections or head shaking • Watery or itchy eyes Here at King Of Zion we pay attention especially to the ears and eyes. How to help your dog Simple steps can make a big difference: Clean & protect • Bathe your dog with oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoo • Wipe paws and belly after walks • Wash bedding regularly Support their health • Omega-3 supplements can help skin health • A balanced diet supports the immune system *** KOZ TIP: This is not official medical advice, and we have no dogs with “regular allergies / allergies year long”, but during these seasonal times, to dogs that have “crying eyes and irritated ears” they get 1x pill of Costco or Sam’s brand Zyrtec and they experience relief. This is temporary short term fix, to temporary problem, that has worked for us well. When to see a vet If symptoms get worse and are on-going. Don’t ignore these signs • Open sores or infections • Strong odor from skin or ears • Non-stop itching Final takeaway Spring allergies are very common in Texas, but with regular cleaning, and the right care, your dog can stay comfortable. Catching symptoms early is the key to preventing bigger problems LEGADO
