Many people see the beautiful photos and assume breeding is a seamless, joyful routine. The reality is a demanding lifestyle and commitment. Behind the scenes lies immense sacrifice, rigorous professional standards, and a deep love for these animals that defines our entire lives.

✨ The Commitment to Mastery True breeding is a serious, lifelong profession. While hobbyists mean well, they typically produce very few litters a year. In any field, it is incredibly difficult to achieve mastery and do something truly well when you only practice it rarely (only a few time a year, if that)
Expertise requires daily immersion.

✨ The Infrastructure of Excellence When people question the price of a well-bred puppy, they often see only the final result, missing the significant financial and physical commitment required to protect the breed:

• Health Diagnostics: Strict genetic screening, hip/elbow evaluations, and certified clearances.

• Sires & Bloodlines: Premium stud fees, international travel, and importing top-tier genetics.

• Operational Care: High-end nutrition, advanced whelping equipment, and strict hygiene protocols.

• Medical & Training: Comprehensive veterinary care, continuous health monitoring, and professional titles.

• Bottle-Feeding: It is incredibly cute—for about five minutes. After that, feeding an entire litter every two to three hours, around the clock, means operating on weeks of zero sleep.

• No Days Off: Our program doesn't recognize weekends, holidays, or vacations. When a dog needs us, we are there.

• The Weight of Loss: Complications happen, and losing a puppy never gets easier. A piece of our heart goes with every goodbye.

✨ Partnership and Lifelong Support A puppy is a living soul, not a product, which is why placement process is thorough. Occasionally, the most responsible answer we can give a family is "not yet" or "no."

WHAT DOES “VA” MEAN?

If you’ve ever seen a German Shepherd with “VA” in front of their name — that’s a BIG deal.

VA = “Vorzüglich Auslese” in German, which means “Excellent Select.”

It’s the highest possible title a German Shepherd can earn in the world, given only to the very best of the best only at the National Sieger Shows.

To reach VA level, everything must align — health, training, genetics, structure, and heart.
It’s incredibly hard to achieve, and it takes years of preparation, dedication, and world-class training to even step onto that field.

To achieve VA, a dog must have:
Excellent structure and movement (perfect conformation)
Top working titles (minimum IGP2, KKL, etc.)
Proven health, character, and temperament
Often outstanding progeny (producing excellence again!)

It’s not just a show title — it’s a recognition that this dog represents the ideal German Shepherd in every way: health, beauty, brains, courage and working ability combined. A VA dog is not just a champion…

Why allergies are worse in Texas

• Grass pollen from lawns and fields
• Wind spreads allergens easily

Common symptoms
Watch for these signs:
• Constant scratching or chewing
• Licking paws a lot
• Red, irritated skin or hot spots
• Ear infections or head shaking
• Watery or itchy eyes

How to help your dog

Clean & protect

one season ends …
… another begins …

We have been “petal to the metal” for a while now.
Focus.
Work.
Daily training commitment.
Eyes on target.

Then …
Unforeseen circumstances,
commitments to our plans,
commitments to our dogs …

The season that we are walking out of,
was fruitful,
productive
and at the end - incredibly demanding and
… yet - celebratory at the finish

We are the breeders behind King Of Zion and beside attending to our dogs and getting them ready for competitions - we are the founders of Narrow Path Dog Club, that hosted, with great amount of our team support, the USCA Regional event last weekend.
4th year in the row, and this week has been officially announced, that we will host it in 2027 again. What an honor …

At the same time … the over all in the King Of Zion Kennel mode - is about to experience a shift.

We are so excited it!

Our dogs have proven themselves,
we have proven ourselves as their handlers on the field and in the ring …

We have succeeded
We have failed.
Our dogs and us - as team together.

It is common is Europe,
but there are not many USA breeders, that can say, they have done the same.
We are incredibly grateful for those, who helped us get here. It take a village.

We are very proud of our accomplishments.
We breed,
we train,
we show our dogs.

It is rare and we are very proud of it.

Hard work,
tears,
sweat,
million moments of wanting of quit,
but deciding to continue anyway …

That is - what is behind us.

And now …

New horizons, with new initiatives.
New plans, built on top of - what we have built …

New breedings season is upon us,
and the CALM WAVE OF ENJOYMENT of our dogs and the fruit of our labor is slowly - but surely - settling in our hearts …

And we plan on holding on to it - for longer than usual … there won’t be much
“petal to the metal” for a while now …

It’s time to celebrate and rest

Narrow Path Dog Club Initiative

As we prepare for our upcoming 2026 USCA S. C. Regional Breeding Evaluation, we have been brainstorming creative ways to make the day even more meaningful — not only for spectators, but especially for the breeders who dedicate countless hours, resources, and miles to present their dogs.

This initiative was inspired by a respected breeder from up north, who is traveling a significant distance to attend — bringing an outstanding high rated male simply to showcase him, even though he is not entered in competition. His commitment to supporting fellow breeders and giving placement opportunities to others deserves our utmost respect.

From that spirit of generosity, this idea was born.

New Showcase Opportunity

Between the Puppy Classes and the start of the 12–18 Month Classes, we will host a special presentation break.

Please note:
• This is not an official USCA presentation
• No ratings or official placements will be given

This is purely about celebrating the breed and supporting the breeders behind it.

In a country as large as ours, opportunities to see quality dogs in person — or to assemble kennel groups — are limited. Even within our own region, there was only 1 show last year, which was our show on this field. Next show was held 8 hours away.

With that in mind, we are proud to introduce two special showcase categories:

Stud Presentation

Breeders participating in our event are invited to present a stud that is not entered in competition.

Requirements:
• The stud must be titled
• Must have a Breed Survey meeting WUSV standards

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase quality breeding stock and allow fellow breeders to evaluate dogs they may not otherwise have the chance to see.

Mini Mixed Kennel Groups
• Minimum of three dogs
• Coat length and color may be mixed
• All dogs must carry the same kennel name
• At least three different parents represented
• All dogs must be officially entered in the show ( ENTRIES ARE EXTENDED TILL THURSDAY 3/5 11:59pm)

This category offers breeders the chance to proudly present the consistency and strength of their program — even if a full traditional kennel group is not possible. And it adds ring practice to the dogs.

This very special lady, Khaleesi, did a very special thing last week. Khaleesi and Lucie achieved IGP2 together at Narrow Path Dog Club trial under SV judge Dirk Stocks!
We are so excited and very grateful to Nicole, Klaus, and Alex, who bred and trained Khaleesi and entrusted her to us.
Khaleesi joined our family just under three months ago, in November! She fit in perfectly right away, and we began working together when Lucie came up with the idea to go for IGP2

Well, it took a good deal of work, but Khaleesi was incredibly well trained for IGP1, and it was a treat to build on the training she received in Germany We are very thankful
And Thank you to Basti and Joanna, who helped us tweak all the last week before. We could not do this without you.
Let’s see what’s next for this stunning girl, but one thing is for sure — we are expecting her cycle soon, and she will be bred to our boy Legado. That’s something we are super excited about

… there is always a story behind every dog … and Legado’s story is still being written
Young male that has blessed beyond, father of 2 of our upcoming stars, boy we can always count on … Here he is during sunset after training on Sunday.
Today we went to track and he did great - getting ready for IGP2. Tracking is his biggest opportunity … and we we’re so excited how he did … and then …
We came home, rested and went into obedience training.

Exercise he knows, jump with dumbbell retrieve - and as he launches over the jump with full hight of 3 feet,
he crashes,
gets over,
grabs the dumbbell,
jumps on the way back
crashes again and comes back limping
And my hearts crashed we are so close.
This world, this sport … breeding with true credential and no face titles … it is not easy.

It is same as any top performing athlete! There is one thing to have the talent, another to have the coaches and team be to be able to shine, then having the grit and discipline and one of many other check boxes to have - IS - to stay healthy !
A month ago - Legado’s IGP3 obedience routine has been ready.

2 weeks go right before the storm, he hurt his a self going over the wall when he jumped off the top instead of climbing it down, we rested and today this … we are seeing the doctor as soon as they can get us in, and we hope we can still contend to be part of Narrow Path Dog Club IGP trial in couple weeks.
We pray the Lord is with us carry us on and hells his leg.

German Shepherds are not social dogs by default, and forcing them to act like they are creates more problems than it solves.

The myth that every dog should love everyone is a human comfort story, not a breed truth.

German Shepherds were selected for discernment, not indiscriminate friendliness.

They are supposed to notice differences, not ignore them.

Modern dog culture treats sociability as a moral virtue.

The more dogs you tolerate, the better dog you are supposed to be.

German Shepherds were never built for that framework.

They are not broken because they don’t want to greet every stranger, dog, or situation with enthusiasm.

They are functioning exactly as intended.

People label this breed “reactive” when what they are really seeing is selectivity.

They call it anxiety when it’s actually evaluation.

They call it poor socialization when it’s judgment.

The problem isn’t the dog’s response.

The problem is the expectation that neutrality should look like friendliness.

German Shepherds do not broadcast comfort.

They wait to determine it.

That delay makes people uncomfortable because it removes instant validation.

You don’t get the wag, the bounce, the reassurance that everything is fine.

You get a pause.

And pauses get interpreted as problems in a culture that demands immediate positivity.

Dog parks, forced greetings, and constant exposure don’t make German Shepherds more social.

They make them more vigilant.

You’re not teaching them that the world is safe.

You’re teaching them that their boundaries don’t matter.

That pressure creates dogs that look calm until they aren’t.

It creates suppression, not confidence.

The same owners who insist on universal friendliness often complain that their dog is “on edge.”

That edge didn’t appear out of nowhere.

It was installed by ignoring the breed’s natural filtering system.

German Shepherds are not meant to collect friends.

They are meant to identify relevance.

That doesn’t make them antisocial.

It makes them deliberate.

Calling that a flaw is convenient for humans who want simple narratives.

It’s easier to say the dog needs to be fixed than to accept that not all breeds value openness the same way.

German Shepherds don’t owe the world approachability.

They owe clarity to the people responsible for them.

When you stop demanding friendliness as proof of success, the breed makes more sense.

When you keep pushing it, you get friction.

And that friction is not the dog failing to adapt.

It’s the expectation failing to fit the dog.

Those who have been following us, know our girls’ stories, we share their journey along the way …

They all have a place and a role in our pack … and they give us their whole heart.

Some are the playmates.
Some are the glue of the pack.
Some are the rule setters.
Some are the rule breakers.
Some act like the police.
Some are the sweethearts.
Some are the shining stars.
Some are the powerhouse …

We love them all and we could write and
LOVE novel about each of them.
We might even do that, because each of them deserves it!

And Betty?
She IS a POWERHOUSE.

From the moment she stepped out of the plane

It was like - if strong wind blew into our face, kissed us on a cheek and took our breath away.

Colton is a young man, that has been with us for almost couple of years, so we thought, it is time to introduce him as part of our KING OF ZION TEAM. Although, next year, he will be leaving us - going to University to become baseball star
Guess how fast is his pitch?
Colton is with us a for a few hours a week …
He is the one …
… who always shows up on time
… always smiles
… no project is too small for him
… helps Alonzo with hard ranch work
… helps Lucie with puppies
… helps taking photos
… does property sanitation
… and all kinds of items, that need to be done…
… and he is also a young man, that take turns praying over our lunch during long work days. We take turns … sometimes Alonzo prays, sometimes Lucie prays and Colton is part of this rotation …
And … our dogs love him. Our puppies respond to him with ease. It’s like his heart beat slows down when he hold them and they feel it.
Colton has been blessing to King Of Zion German Shepherds and we pray, that his path is blessed

Sadly, we are seeing more and more false titles coming out of these countries into the German Shepherd world.

We understand—it’s becoming more challenging and costly to properly title dogs to true European standards here in the U.S. The time, dedication, and financial investment it takes are significant. Sending a dog to Europe can cost $4,000–$6,000 in transport alone. We get it.

But falsifying titles is never acceptable. It’s not just dishonest—it’s a disservice to the breed we all claim to love and protect.

We know this may not be a popular post, but truth matters.
If this were Alonzo writing, he’d be listing names—but we’ll leave it at this:

Buyers, please do your homework.
Ask for proof, not just a listing in a database. Sadly, that alone is not always reliable. Know what you are paying for!

And while we won’t even start on the topic of miss-leading health testing this time… let’s be clear:
A flashy litter poster, fluent pedigree talk, and marketing buzzwords don’t make a dog proven.

Yes, there are dogs with great quality even among the falsely titled—but …
Where does the line get drawn?
What happens when this becomes the new “NORMAL”?

Let’s protect the integrity of our breed, our work, and our standards.
Truth builds legacies.
Lies destroy them.
